Director of Youth Ministry: Kevin Benson youth@stmarks-spokane.org

Kevin Benson has been attending St. Marks since October of 2001, and has been a member since Fall of 2003. Originally from Alaska, Kevin came to Spokane to attend Whitworth College where he received his B.A. with a double major in Theatre and Speech Communications. During college, Kevin spent 4 summers in camping ministry at Camp Spalding, a Presbyterian camp on Davis Lake and 3 years with Young Life ministry at Mt. Spokane High School. He is thrilled to be at St. Marks and excited to work with our great youth!

Acolytes—Junior high and high school students

Being an Acolyte provides a learning experience in giving service to the church by assisting during worship services. Training is in late September, or by arrangement.

Order of Acolytes

Acolytes who desire to participate in more in-depth learning about worship; what we do, why we do it, what symbols and rituals mean, how other denominations worship and many other exciting topics.

Fourth through Sixth Grade Activity Group

This group meets quarterly and is led by the Director of Youth Ministries and parents.

Junior High Youth Group

Fellowship and fun activities bring youth together in faith. This group meets on Sunday evenings once a month.

Senior High Youth Group

Fellowship along with activities brings high school age youth together in faith. This group meets each Wednesday during Walking With the Light (WWL) from September-October, and again from January-February. In addition, the senior high school students meet during Sunday School. This group plans worthwhile service projects and attends youth conventions (regional, national, and includes time at Holden Village.) Monthly events are also done in addition to events planned throughout the year

Walking With the Light (WWL)

WWL is on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm, from September-October, and again from January-February. Activities include games, dinner, singing, Bible study, prayer time, and confirmation classes. All 5th – 12th graders are invited.
